It's both dead and alive... until you open the box, that is.  But why would anyone want to put a cute cat in a box with an unstable atom, a hammer and a bottle of poison?  It just doesn't make sense! Poor cat. Just think, all he wanted was a nice juicy mouse, and somebody had to come along and put him inside a box of half-death. Well, he probably climbed in himself. Cats do that with boxes. But doesn't the experiment fail in its very principle when you consider the fact that the cat can observe itself? Sigh, one day we will have answers to these difficult questions, and one day we will discover if Schrödinger's cat is actually alive or dead or both simultaneously.

 Schrodinger's cat strikes back!
